What is golden visa UAE?

The UAE golder visa is a long term residency visa which allows foreign nationals to live, work and study in the UAE. In other words it is called a 10 year UAE golden visa.

The new system of UAE golden visas aims to attract and retain global talents and skilled workers from all over the world, boost the competitiveness and flexibility of the job market, and foster a high sense of stability among UAE residents and families.

Followings are the requirements for each categories:

1 Investors An Investor in an Investment Fund:

An investor in an investment fund is granted a Golden Visa for a period of 10 years without a sponsor if one of the following conditions is met:

  • An investment fund accredited in the UAE stating that there is a deposit of AED 2 Million or 
  • Valid commercial license or industrial license with investor’s Memorandum of Association of his/her company provided that the investor capital is not less than AED 2 Two Million
  • Letter from the Federal Tax Authority stating that the investor is the owner of a company that pays the government no less than AED 250,000/- Annually.

Real Estate investors:

Real estate investors are eligible for UAE golden visa if they fulfill one of the following conditions: 

  • Purchase a property worth no less than AED 2 Million or
  • Purchase a property worth no less than AED 2 Million with a loan from specific local banks or
  • Buy one or more off-plan properties of less than AED 2 Million from approved local real estate companies.
2 Entrepreneurs Entrepreneurs can obtain a Golden visa UAE if they fulfil one of the following conditions:

  • Own or partner in a start-up registered as a small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the UAE, and the company generates annual revenues of not less than AED 1 million
  • Obtain an approval for a start-up idea from an official business incubator or from Ministry of Economy or other competent local authorities
  • Must have founded an entrepreneurial project that was sold for a total amount of not less than AED 7 million.
3 Exceptional talents Inventors, innovators, and exceptional talents in vital fields such as culture, art, sports and digital technology can obtain a Golden visa regardless of their educational qualification, employment status, monthly salary or professional level. The visa requires a recommendation or approval from a federal or local government entity.
4 Scientists Scientists and researchers with high achievements and influence in their field can get the Golden visa based on a recommendation from the Emirates Scientists Council. A candidate should have a PhD or a Master’s degree in one of the disciplines of engineering, technology, life sciences and natural sciences from the best universities in the world, as well as substantial research achievements.
5 Professionals Professionals or highly-skilled workers with high educational qualifications and professional experience in all disciplines, including medicine, sciences and engineering, information technology, business and administration, education, law, culture and social sciences can get the Golden visa if they:

  • Have a valid employment contract in the UAE
  • Are classified in the first or second occupational level as per the classification of Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Level 1: Legislators, managers, and business executives and Level 2: Professionals in scientific, technical and human fields)
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Have a monthly salary of not less than AED 30,000.
6 Outstanding students and graduates High performing students in the UAE’s secondary schools and outstanding graduates from the UAE’s universities and the best 100 universities worldwide can get the Golden visa. Criteria includes academic performance/cumulative average, year of graduation and the university classification.
7 Humanitarian pioneers Humanitarian pioneers such as the following can get the Golden visa:

  • Distinguished members of international and regional organisations
  • Outstanding members of associations of public benefit
  • Recipients of recognition awards in humanitarian fields
  • Distinguished volunteers and sponsors of humanitarian efforts
8 Frontline heroes Frontline workers with extraordinary efforts in crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic can also get the Golden visa.

How to apply for 10 years golden visa UAE?

Currently there are two immigration are issuing 10 years golden visa for above mentioned categories:

  • Abu Dhabi through ICP website, mobile application and Tasheel centres
  • Dubai through GDRFA smart app or Amer Centres

So according to your choice you can apply for 10 years UAE golden visa.

Golden visa UAE price

The total cost of obtaining UAE golden visa shall be AED 3,860/- approx. Kindly note that health insurance needs to be obtained for 10 years golden visa and its cost shall be around AED 1,000/-  per year for persons below 65 years old and AED 3,000/- per year for those above 65 years old.

Process to get UAE golden visa

Followings are the step by step process for obtaining 10 years golden visa of UAE:

Step 1 To apply for a 6 months multiple entry visa to complete the golden visa process. UAE residents who already have a valid residence visa can skip this step.
Step 2 To file the nomination request for golden visa
Step 3 Submit the necessary documents based on category chosen
Step 4 Pay fees for the visa
Step 5 Submit the additional documents (if authority ask)
Step 6 The authority will notify by text message and registered email for any update. Once the entry permit is issued then it will be sent to registered email. 
Step 7 Medical Examination (applicant has to visit the centre for blood test and x-ray)
Step 8 Obtain health insurance from local UAE insurance companies
Step 9 Emirates ID (applicant has to visit the centre for biometric)
Step 10 Visa copy will be sent to registered email id or can be downloaded through ICP mobile application

Timeline to get golden visa

The whole process will take around 4 working weeks to issue the 10 years UAE golden visa.
